Quattlebaum is thought to be German, however our last name was changed when my great great grandfather came to the US.

Altered spelling of German Quattelbaum, probably a topographic name from Middle Low German quattele ‘quail’ + bōm ‘tree’.

Now "quattel" seems to have the original meaning of "to waddle" or maybe "wabble", but I'm not quite sure about this.
