There's a very pretty tree called Melia something - Azaderach, possibly - with tiny, very fragrant mauve flowers in early spring; it then gets golden-coloured berries (about the size of cherries, and they grow the same way) that are said to be poisonous ... also called Persian Lilac or syringa. It's been declared an invasive alien which I think one need not eradicate but no more can be planted. I've never heard of being named after one, but it makes as much sense as Willow.
