Re: Shannon as a guy's name?
in reply to a message by Ellie
Yes, Shannon can be used as a guys name, although I do not hear it often. Kelly, Francis, Leslie, and Lynn are other names that are more popular for girls, but can be used for guys, as well.

My daughter in college has at least two male friends named Shannon. It was also the name used by (Richard) Shannon Hoon, late lead singer for the (great) rock group Blind Melon.Personally, I also know guys of various ages with the other names you cite. One correction: "Francis" is ALWAYS a male name. The female spelling is Frances.- Da.

In Britain, Leslie is nearly always a male name. The female spelling is usually Lesley.Rosey

Hey Rosey,The name spelling convention has traditionally been the same here (US) as in the UK, but it seems there no longer ARE many name spelling conventions observed here (viz., "Katelyn" in all her hideous variations!). But then, there are far fewer guys named Leslie (by any spelling) here than there once were, so maybe it's moot.- da.
