It's probably a combination of a Ron- name (such as Rona or Ronnette, or the masculine Ronald) with the common girls' name Monica.

How could we decide the short form of a name? I've heard people calling 'Veronica' as 'Veron'.
Hey. So strange. It seems that there's an enterprise (?) named 'Ronica'. Does anyone know anything about it?
