South Africa is full of men called Jean - we had some French Huguenot settlers in the 17th century, and old habits die hard. Now I'm noticing that Jean is getting popular in the blended form Jeandre, including for some really tough-guy rugby players and the pretty daughter of a former colleague of mine ... invention knows no gender!
