Baby name books can be imaginative, but ava- means Down, so maybe she's the furthest down the family age list?
I'd stay with the Finnish or Sanskrit if I was you; there was a bunch of barbarian invaders of Europe in about the 7th century called the Avars, and in Latin Avara means Greedy.
How do you pronounce it? AV a rah? a-VAY-ra? Sounds pretty either way ...
