Worry not about the subject line - it happens to the best of us!Anes looks like a minor adjustment of Agnes to me - not pronounced the English way (AGnes) but the French (AHNyes) with that same -ny- sound that the -gn- makes in champaGNe. And, yes, it does sound nice!Very tactful of the sci-fi authors to give us names we can pronounce instead of the Szxyccggrwq that their characters probably would have if only ... if only ...

I agree. I can't even count for all the sci-fi books I've read where the names are utterly rediculous. Although the book says that the name is pronounced a certain way, Its certainly much more believable than Oooodyayuau or something like that!Anes is one of the first sci-fi names which have ever succeeded in really grabbing my attention!
