Well, Jennie, despite your husband's mania for fishing, you can now tell inquisitive souls that your child's name *does* mean something other than a species of aquatic, cold-blooded vertebrate.

"Garrick" (fortunately) also happens to be the English form of the French name "Garrigue", which means "grove of oaks". A fairly well-known Garrick is Garrick Utley, the teevee newscaster.
