Hallo!

Sirkka derives from the Finnish word "sirkku" (bunting [bird]).

As a first name it derives from the fairy tale "Prinsessa Lumisirkku ja kääpiöt" = 'Princess Snow-bunting and the dwarfs', which was the original title for the fairy tale "Snow-white" in Finland. Later the name of the girl in the fairy tale changed from Lumisirkku to Lumikki.

----------

Sirkka kommt vom finnischen Wort "sirkku" (Ammer [Vogel]).

Regards,
Viele Grüße
Satu
