Subject: Whence "Susie Q"

The name "Susie Q" is a popular nickname, but from where did this originate. I found the information about "Susie" and its related names, but where did the "Q" come from. There is a song written in the mid-1950s entitled "Susie Q" as well as numerous uses of the name since then. But the earliest reference to this name I've found so far is from the early 1950s when heavyweight boxing legend Rocky Marciano nicknamed his knockout punch "Susie Q." There must be an earlier root to this name, but so far I haven't found it. Thanks for any input!
