The dance dates back to the 1930s: http://snipurl.com/esk5. I couldn't find out where it acquired its name from, unfortunately.
The Rolling Stones recorded a song called "Suzie Q" on 25 Feb 1964. It was released in the US in 1964 on the album 12x5; in the UK, it came out in 1965.
