Dain is, I believe, a Dwarvish leader who brings Thorin and company re-enforcements for fighting from the Lonely Mountain. But when the Orcs, Goblins and wild Wargs (wolves) come, Dain's people fall in with the rest of the 'good guys' in the Battle of the Five Armies. There might be a city named for him, I always skim past that part to (Quick!) find out what happens. Y :)
