My dad knew a girl named Merry Christmas; given name Merry, surname Christmas...No, I am NOT joking!!!

Merry = happy or joyous; cheerful, etc. Almost archaic.
Christmas = Christ-mass, Christ from Greek 'Christos', savior; and the Catholic mass.
