in one of my books it lists
Elana From the Latin, Elan = spirited ,or from the Hebrew, = tree. varient ILana

Could be from Elena. It can also be a variant spelling of Alana. ^_^ Ah, the joys of tangled etymologies. I s'pose it depends on where you found it.
