Subject: pronouncing the name Kateri

A few years back I casually met someone with this name. They pronounced it as sort of a cross between Kay-tuh-ree and kate-uh-ree.
I know it was after Kateri Tekakwitha, Lily of the Mohawks. I love the history of the name. I am not sure about the correct pronunciation. I have a found a few different mohawk pronunciation
ga-ta-wee, ka-ta-yee, ga-ta-yee are some of the examples. Does anyone know the true pronunciation or anyone with this name, and if so how to they pronounce it.
