My name
My name LYNN (or Lynne) is there as being a variant of the Welsh Lynn, meaning a lake, but there are also old english backgrounds, meaning a river or brook (as in King's Lynn) and also, i believe it has a swedish meaning of lightening.Lynne

Hi Lynne,The Swedish word for lightning is 'blixt', so you probably mean the Danish and Norwegian word for lightning which is 'lyn' (but the pronunciation is different to the name Lynn!).There is a Swedish word 'lynne' meaning 'mood' and the words for linen (cloth) are:
Danish: linned
Swedish and Norwegian: linAnd there's a goddess (Aesir) in the Nordic Mythology whose name is Hlin (Hlín) which means 'mercy'.An Old German name Linna means 'waterfall'.Lynn can also be a short form for names like Linda, Linnéa, Karolin, Eluned etc.Regards, Satu
