I can only tell you something about the -sen endings. These endings are used in Denmark, Norway and in the north of Germany and in the north of the Netherlands. They come from the Scandinavian word 'son' which is the same word as in English (just with a different pronunciation).
The suffix is just added to a first name to build the last name, and in Denmark about 60 % of the last names are -sen names. In Sweden and Iceland the ending is -sson instead and in Norway you'll find both -son and -sen.In the very north of Germany (Schleswig-Holstein) the surnames Petersen and Hansen are the most common last names.Regards, Satu
