Something more about the name Tegan.It'a a female name of Cornish or Welsh background.

Tegan - (TEG-ahn) from Welsh teg "pretty, fine" + dim. -an. Name of an early saint and a river in Ceredigion

Not my favourite name, however pronounced; and it seems to have the same problem as Megan, divided between Egg and Eeg sounds.

not according to the site

If you look on the site Tegan is from Teagan, from the gaelic word Tadhg, meaing poet, and 'an' suffix makes it mean 'little poet'
Related to the name 'Teague' which happens to be one of my favourite names.
I have never heard Teagan or Teague pronounced like 'Tegg'.

Your book is wrong

The Welsh for doe is 'ewig'. There is a Welsh word 'tegan' meaning toy, trinket, but this derives from the original element teg - e.g. it comes from the same root as the name, but is not the same as the name.
