Does the Italian name Ecoli (or Eccoli, or Eccolli, or Ecolli)exist! I have been told that it does but can find no other evidence to confirm or disconfirm this. Allegedly it is a derivation from the classical greek name/legend Hercules. Can anybody shed any light. Many thanks

E. coli (Escherichia coli) is bacteria found in feces.

If it's Ercole which is the name you think you might have heard, that is, indeed an Italian masculine name derived from "Hercules".
