If you look on the site Tegan is from Teagan, from the gaelic word Tadhg, meaing poet, and 'an' suffix makes it mean 'little poet'
Related to the name 'Teague' which happens to be one of my favourite names.
I have never heard Teagan or Teague pronounced like 'Tegg'.~Silver

But the site is wrong - Tegan is a Welsh name, pronounciation and origin as given above - perhaps time for Mike C to make an addition?b

Your book is wrongThe Welsh for doe is 'ewig'. There is a Welsh word 'tegan' meaning toy, trinket, but this derives from the original element teg - e.g. it comes from the same root as the name, but is not the same as the name.
