Nardono sprpso musko ime. Koren ovog imena nastao je od linske reci DEUS-DEA, koja u prevodu znaci bozanstvo, boginja. Pripada grupi najranije prihvacenih imena kod nas. Prvi puta se srece u nasim krajevima u cetrnaestom veku. This translates:Serbian, male name. Origin of the name comes from the Latin word DEUS-DEA, which translated, means something God-like. It is one of the earliest adopted names in the Serbian culture. The first use of the name at our ends of the World was around the 14th century.I got this information from a framed document in cyrilic from Serbia. Dejan Ilic

I am Dejan from Serbia. The name Dejan is a slavic Serbian name (first used in Serbia in the 13th century if I am not wrong). The origin comes from Greek Theos (Deos) meaning God and the feminine Thea (Dea) - goddess. It has been also used in other republics of Ex Yugoslavia, mainly in Croatia and Bosnia

It's a male name, pronounced 'Deh'yan', dating back to the 11th century of a former Serbian Prince. It would behoove your research team to look into this. I have searched several search engines for the origin. My information is from a single source, an old Serbian history text from my father.

... or tells us something about the pronunciation...If it's De-ian, it might be a variation of the Slavic Deyan, meaning "one who is active", if it's De-zhan, it might ve coming from French...
