Name "Okey"
Okey, male name. Fairly common in West Virginia, settled by English and Scots-Irish.My grandfather was named Okey and of long English descent.West Virginia had a governor named Okey.Anyone know the meaning and etymology?Thanks,

Don't know if this will help, but the word "okey" means "it is so" in the language of the Choctaw Indians of Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana. Another possible source of course might be "Okie". ( Did your grandfather have any Oklahoma connections?)
