A different meaning for Kimberley
From what I have always been told and read the name:
Kim was of Asian origin and means: Glorious leader.
Kimberley was of British origin and means: a Fortress in the middle of a meadow.
Any thoughts?

Asian - hmm, maybe someone remembered their Rudyard Kipling? His Kim was short for Kimball.South, and no doubt North, Korea seems to have streets paved with Kims, presumably their surname since it comes first - Kim Dae Jung, Kim Sung Il, there are others. But it is far more likely that this is just a coincidence and that the English-speaking Kims of the world use the Kim with European origins.
