The General Message Board is intended for discussion of "the etymology and history of first names" (check out the title above), with some divergence into surnames (although Mike C. has provided a Surnames Board too), and occasional off-topic postings developing out of name discussion because such is the nature of people who interact with each other on a regular basis.
