My opinion is that all names that have been at one time "common" once were invented by somebody somewhere.

Heck, the original question ("Is this a real name?") brought back memories of (*shiver*) Elaine and her blasting that one poor woman about naming one of her children Six. *reaches for the hand soap to wash my hands (like washing the mouth out for using "innapropriate" language)*
