From the an old archive I found this said on the name Lestat (used by Anne Rice in her vampire novels)
>>>"probably concocted the name from the Old French "l'estat" meaning "status, state or condition of life". "
So my question is, was this name purley invented by Rice? or was name in use before the novels?.
Thanks for your time.
