In one of my baby book Loyal is listed as this

LOYAL - From the latin ,legalis.'legal,true,faithful'via the old french'Loyal'.varient Loy
Not sure how accurate the book is though

No mention of the bible but i guess it could have been a Virtue name once used by the Puritans like Grace Faith Charity
