Has anybody heard of the name Hyla?
I have been researching my family tree and have come across what seems to be a first name passed on through the males in my family, "Hyla". I am researching in the West Midlands (Staffordshire). On the 1901 census it is spelled "Oiler". I have also seen it written as "Hyla" and "Orley" on different documents.
I would be pleased to hear from anyone with any ideas.
Thanks,
Liz

Careful Hyla is the genus for a tree frog...hehe.Hylas was a character in Greek mythology. Perhaps it related to him.
Here's a brief story of him.
