Eponine
The meaning of the name Eponine is unknown, and the name itself may have been invented by Victor Hugo to show the character of Eponine's family, the Thenardiers. Eponine's mother was characterized as the type of woman who most likely would have given her baby a name taken from cheap novels (and also most likely would have misread the name in the novel and therefore gotten the spelling wrong). In other words, Madame Thenardier (Eponine's mother) would have been the 19th century equivalent of the chicks who give their babies kree-8-tive names today.Regardless, Eponine at least sounds pretty.-- Nanaea
