Re: popular names
Assuming you are an elementary school student, prepare the following, simple questionaire which contains three columns and looks something like this:FIRST NAME...................BOY? GIRL?..............YEAR OF BIRTH______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________(With a line for each kid being surveyed to fill in.)Then ask your teacher to help you make photocopies of the questionaire and distribute one to each classroom in your school. The teacher in each classroom would then be asked to pass the questionaire around the room and have each student fill in a line.Collect all the questionaires when the are completed, and then start counting up how many "Alisons" and "Bryans" and whatever you have. You will have enough information from these questionaires to gather the following information from your survey:1. The most popular boys' names in your school.2. The most popular girls' names in your school.3. The most popular boys' or girls' names in your school given in any particular year.Good luck! If you're going to do this, then come back here and tell us how it turned out. :)-- Nanaea

You could also see which letter of the alphabet is most common to begin the names of male and female students in the school. If this were a high school, I'd bet on "J" for the boys. The current number of teenage Jasons, Justins, Jeremys, Jareds, Jamals, etc. is mind-numbing.
