Kelby
Hi Kelby,Kelby is a place name with Old Norse roots. The suffix -by means village. Kel- means either "spring, well" or refers to the Old Norse male name Kell/Kjell/Kjeld etc. (meaning: helmet).
So the meaning is either "village at the spring" or "Kell's village".Originally it was just a place name, later it became a male name and nowadays it's used as a female name as well. - The name isn't used in the Nordic countries allthough the roots are Norse.Regards, Satu
