Cassandra
The etymology of Cassandra given in the Liddell & Scott Greek dictionary is considerably different from that provided by this site. It favors a derivation from Alexandra, presumably shortened to xandra and then lengthened by an extra syllable at the beginning to simplify the pronounciation of the x--"cass" instead of "xs."

Which edition of L&S are you quoting? Neither the online version (www.perseus.org)or my own 9th edition seem to quote this explanation.
