Hmmm Arzana is a place in Italy and I found mentions of the name on sites using Czech, English, German, Greek, Italian, Lithuanian, and Norwegian. At least a 3rd of those sites were talking about the place in Italy. Also I found quite a few people with the first and last name Arzanas. I couldn't find anything about it's meaning though. Maybe someone else will have more luck.

To Arzanas (altho I'm posting under the initial reply instead of the original question - sorry)...What was your father's nationality/ethnic background? With the -as ending the name sounds Lithuanian or perhaps some form of Persian. Can't really pursue this without more information from you.- Da.

as far as nationality...this is what i'm told ,he passed many years ago when i was 8yrs.....he is mostly indian and irish. his full name was arzanas bradley. this named was passed down for several generations.
i come from a big family and the stories are just as big, so here it goes. if i'm wrong i was misinformed and not trying to mislead, i'm not much of a history fan.....as was told that some irish brothers were in prison in ireland. the prison was over crowded and as an agreement several inmates where aloud to leave for america if they did not return.
these brothers all married indian women and began passing down this name. thier children and their childrens children became active in the armed forces. this is what my fathers family pride themselves on and most of the arzanas names i've seen on the internet are armed forces assc. i can't think of any other info. i would someday like to name a son arzanas, but would like to know more about it. thanks for any help you can provide!

HISTORICAL SIGNS
Arzana has many ancient origins. Throughout the area, there are archaeological testimonies which originate from the pre-nuragic to the nuragic and Roman periods.
As for the origin of the territory’s name, there are several hypotheses; one is that it derives from “Arthana” which, in Sardinian, means mildew; in fact the word “arthanau” is also lamb cooled by humidity or ice. Another hypothesis is that it derives from the Latin “aer sanum”, which means healthy air, in reference to the territory which is still recognized for its climate and source of granite spring water. This Latin term also means fresh breeze.

I like it but if you want opinions you should really go to the opnions board, because you're way more likely to find opnions there than here at the facts board.---------------------------------------------------------------------
