Actually I was told that the ending of Isabeau is Eau not Beau and has nothing to do with being masculineIn the fifteenth century it was a royal name

In this case Isabeau is not a male form (like Belle & Beau) but a Middle Ages one of Isabelle. It is prononced ee-zah-boh.
