Pronunciation of Colm
Colm-- is the "l" pronounced or silent? Thanks! :)~♥Eirena♥~George sighed. "Look at him," he said in an undertone, "he's got one of the great makeout lines of all time available to him - 'hey, I'm back from the dead' -and he doesn't use it."

The "L" is not silent. It's CULL-um or COLL-um. It's not short for Malcolm either, rather Malcolm is derived from a name with the element Colm in it.

It's pronounced as COM. With, yes, a silent 'l'. It's a nn for Malcolm, if you didn't knew that. :-)

I kind of wondered....If it was a nn for Malcolm. :) That's why I was thinking it may be a silent "l". In the database, it lists it as a contraction of Columba, so then I was all confused. ;P Thanks!~♥Eirena♥~George sighed.
