Was the woman you read about Imaine de Loos? If so I have also heard of her and some sources site her name as Imagina/Imaine von Looz/von Loon. Imagina could be just a latinization but it is possible that Imagina was her birth name and it was changed to Imaine when she married the Count of Louvaine.

My only other theory is that it could be a contraction of names containing the element 'ermen' i.e. Ermentraud, Ermesinde, Ermengilde
