Hi Winter Roisin,Both the Swedish and the Norwegian pronunciations are somewhere in between shell and chell, and the Danish pronunciation is kyell.Listen to the Swedish pronunciation here:

ahh thanksI was once acquainted with a Kjell who was born here in the US and pronounced it "chell." I guess his parents probably came from Norway. "Chell" is about as close as I could get to that sound.

It still sounds like shell to me...
