Vmfridi and Xpoforus
The Surname was Rant, which i believe is DutchCan you translate these two into English?

Is this from some record written in Latin?It looks to me like Vmfridi would be a Latinization of Humfried, the Dutch form of Humphrey (V and U are often interchangeable in ancient records.) And Xpoforus would probably be an old abbreviation for Christophorus (though the "p" would have to be some sort of ancient typographical error, I suppose.) :)

Wouldn't the p be the Greek rho? It's still a bit, ahem!, confused, but if the writer was familiar with the Chi-Rho symbol then it would seem natural at least. And in those days, if you knew Latin (which he did - you're right about the V=U) you also knew Greek.
