I would like you to help me find out what the meaning of the name raziyaan is. One of my friends gave her baby the name without knowing what the meaning was. Today when people ask her what does her daughters name means she dont know. And get angry when they ask her. They are muslim people and she named her daughter after a girl that she liked and she just heard the name but did not look for the meaning. Would you be able to help me please.

In A Dictionary of Muslim Names by Salahuddin Ahmed, "Razan" and "Razina" are names from the Arabic for "calm, composed, self-possessed"; "Raziya" is a female name that goes back to the Arabic word for "satisfied" or "content", and "Rezwan", "Rizwaan", and "Rizwaana" are from the Arabic for "satisfaction, contentment." PERHAPS Raziyaan is a modification of those names in the local language the parents of the girl your friend liked spoke, but we would have to do more investigation to be sure. :)
