I was at my friend Jessica's house and we were watching Hannah Montana. I just found out that her real name on the show is Miley. I really liked it, so I looked it up to see how she spelt it, then looked it up on here and saw it wasn't in the database. The first thing to come to mind was, "Well it sounds like Miles..." but does anybody know what it means?

In Ireland it is a quaint old fashioned nn for Miles.

In Miley Cyrus' case...
...Her given name is Destiny Cyrus, but her father (Billy Ray of "Achy Breaky Heart" 'fame') called her Smiley as a pet name, which degenerated into Miley.
If there are other, etymological explanations for the name (in this particular spelling, rather than the sound-alike (I think?) Maile), I'm not sure, but that's how the most famous bearer came by it.
