Sedona
What does the name Sedona mean? Sedona, Arizona is named after Sedona Miller Schnebly (1877–1950), the wife of the city's first postmaster.

I'm not sure that the interview that says Mrs. Schnebly's mother "just thought up the name" is accurate, because there are other examples of Sedona and Sedonia in the 19th century, probably as variations of Sidonia, the Latin form of Sidonie and Sidony. I think parents sometimes think they've "thought up" a name when they've just forgotten where they originally heard it. :)
