Aurea does come from the same root as Aurelia/Aurelius (Latin aureus "golden, gilded"). I pronounce it OR-ee-a, but it might depend on where you are (BtN lists ow-REL-yah as the pronunciation for Aurelia in Polish, so I assume that there -- and probably also places with clearer vowels than English has -- it would be pronounced OW-ree-a).
