Nadar is my last name; am not sure of the etymology and origin, though. I am from Tamil Nadu, India.
I have heard these readings for the name:
Nadar = Someone who does not seek (i.e., seek material wealth etc, I assume :) )
Nadar = Person from the country (=Nadu in the Tamil language)
I would be grateful if anyone could give me any pointers/etymologies/origins...
