Cajun/Acadian and Roma/Travellers
Are there any special first names that are used by the Cajuns and/or Acadians?
Are there any special first names derived from Romani (Gypsy language) or that are typically used by Traveller groups (like Irish Travellers, for example)?SOLIDARITY WITH BURMA

Thanks for your answers!Interesting that Dika is a Roma name, considering it's my nickname and I'm not Rom. :)

As concerns the Roma, I once came across this list of Roma female names:

I don't know how reliable it is, but the names look interesting anyway. Maybe you sould ask Marija Luminitsa, I think she mentioned she' s of part-Roma descent, she might know.

I could take a run at this, as I live in a French-speaking area, in Northern New Brunswick.
And no, there arn't really any specificlly Acadian names. Names used currently are what you'd hear in the Province of Quebec, as well as some names popular in English-speaking Canada.
There's a small influence from France-but not much. This is a simplification, of course, but Acadians consider themselves French-speaking North Americans.
I'm editing this to add that I have really no information on the naming preferences of the Cajun community.
