Neta does mean plant in Hebrew, and is very common here (in Israel) too. It might have a meaning in some other language; I don't know.Never heard of Iada - The Hebrew word for "knew" is Yada, maybe it's related. Boy or girl name?

Oh. I would have placed it as a boys' name. I really doubt that's the origin if it's a girl's name - it doesn't really fit in with normal naming practices.
