Pronunciation of Nikolai
Just wondering what part of the name should be emphasised? I think it's pronounced Nik-o-lay, but my partner thinks Nik-o-lie. Any help would be appreciated!! :)

It is pronounced Nik-o-lie (the last syllable is pronounced as pie or by). The point is where you put the stress. I believe in some Eastern European countries it is pronounced NIK-o-lie. I am a Bulgarian, and we pronounce it Nik-o-LIE. Btw, my uncle's name is Nikolai.
