Message: "Anicifero" - Behind the Name

I have looked all over for the origin of the Spanish name Anicifero and have never found anything out. Do you have any information on this strange and rare name?

Are you sure of the spelling? In Spanish Anicifero is not a name (an Google doesn't give a single result), but it could be an erroneous spelling of Aniceto, which is a real Spanish name.

Yes, the spelling is correct...he spelled it that way himself. Aniceto seems to be one of the closest names to his I guess...his parents must have doctored up this name maybe by mixing Aniceto with Lucifero. Very strange though how google has nothing...Anicifero is a Mexican by the way.

It could be a latinate name; the original form must probably have been Anicifer then. I don't know what the first part of the name means, but the second part could come from Latin ferre "to bring" (see also Lucifer, which in Spanish is Lucifero).

The Spanish form of Lucifer is simply Lucifer (directly from the Latin Lucifer); Lucifero is the Italian one (coming from the Latin form Luciferus).

The form Anicifer is unknown and it doesn't appear (as Anicifer or as Aniciferus) in any of the onomastics books.

All the results of Google for Anicifer (43) are related with Russian language, and not a single one with Italian/Spanish/Latin language.

Oh yes, that's right! Sorry, I always mix Spanish and Italian when I'm just speaking from memory - but I didn't have my books with me at the time of writing that. :(
