No way - unless it's a nickname that makes sense in the language of the country she came from (do you know where?) or Yiddish, because I have no idea what the rules of Yiddish are.The only other things I can think of if it is actually Hebrew:The word Choleh means sick. I wouldn't think that would be a name, but there actually is another name - Mahlah - that comes from the same root form.The word Chal means to occur, to take place. (But I doubt it.)HaChula is a valley in the north of Israel.

Her roots were in Bukovina. Perhaps there's a Slavic or Romanian origin for this perplexing name.
