Meaning of my mother's Name
My mother's first name is Lovestine. I know at least two others with this first name: Lovestine Eason and Lovestine SweetHelp!! Does anyone know anything about her name? My mother's 80th birthday is this weekend and I wanted to use it in her gift.

Ancestry.com's Learning Center gives this:"Lowenstein 1. German (Löwenstein): habitational name from any of several places called Löwenstein.
2. Jewish (Ashkenazic) and Swedish (Löwenstein): ornamental name composed of German Löwe ‘lion’ + Stein ‘stone’; in some cases the Jewish name is an ornamental elaboration associated with the personal names Levi (see Levy) or Lew ‘lion’."Since the W in German is pronounced like a V, and the N could easily disappear, my guess is that she was given a surname as her first name: we think of this as a very modern thing to do, but clearly she was ahead of her time!Did she have German, Swedish or Jewish ancestors? Perhaps her parents named her after a friend, or just liked the look and the sound of Lovestine. Either way, she's a very special lady and you should be able to personalise her gift nicely.Have a happy day!
