Ruark...
I've been trying to figure out the origin of my last name, Ruark.
people suggest it might be a misspelled version or Rourke or O'Rourke, but i've also heard it might be Welsh...
my family history falls off the records before they came to America in the 1800's

This is definately Irish.It is not a misspelling, but a variation on more common Anglicizations of the original Gaelic nameThe Irish-Gaelic form is "Ó Ruairc." It is a major family of Counties Cavan and Letrim. The name is natively Irish but the root name is Norse in origin.

Not Welsh....Irish or Scottish, and definitely another spelling of Rourke or O'Rourke :D

Maybe Polynesian because I found a few names starting with "Rua"
all being polynesian.
